BB&T; Center to Host Two Shows for Billy Joel in Just One Week

SUNRISE, Fla.— Sunrise Sports & Entertainment announced today that music superstar Billy Joel (@billyjoel) will perform not one, but two shows at The BB&T Center (@thebbtcenter) on Tuesday, Jan. 7 and Saturday, Jan. 11.

After a special performance on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest on Dec. 31, Billy Joel’s next stop in Sunrise will be his first time performing in South Florida since 2009. Considered one of the best-selling artists of all time with over 150 million records sold worldwide, the “Piano Man” has six Grammy awards, including the Grammy Legend Award. On Dec. 8, Joel received the Kennedy Center Honors as he sat next to the President and First Lady for a memorable night that “celebrates five extraordinary individuals who have spent their lives elevating the cultural vibrancy of our nation and the world.”

“We are honored to have one of the biggest names in pop music captivate our audience with two performances,“ said President and CEO Michael R. Yormark (@PanthersYormark), “Adding on a second concert due to overwhelming demand is just another illustration of the passion music icon Billy Joel brings to the BB&T Center and to South Florida fans.”

Billy Joel’s performance at the Barclays Center on New Year’s Eve received rave reviews. After the ball dropped, New York Post stated that hits “You May Be Right”, and “Movin’ Out (Anthony’s Song)" flowed like champagne as the crowd danced on their feet and got the party started.

Kennedy Center Chairman, David M. Rubenstein’s review of Billy Joel reads: “his melodies have provided the soundtrack of our lives for over four decades, making him one of pop music's most prolific and memorable singers and songwriters.”

Tickets are available through www.ticketmaster.com, at any Ticketmaster outlet, by phone (800-745-3000) or at the BB&T Center box office during regular business hours.
